In the 1960s The Internation Company of Sleeping Cars (Internationale Schlafwagen Gesellschaft) ran some 500 sleeping cars of various types, which could be seen attached to high class express trains on all of Europe’s railway lines. Type P (named after the Chief Engineer of the ISG, Pillepich) contained 20 single compartments of special luxury, each one and a half storey high.
