With the onset of the German industrial boom our neighbours’ desire to travel increased accordingly. The German National Railway reacted by purchasing carriages made completely out of steel for the D-Trains travelling also beyond their borders into neighbouring countries. Many of these carriages could be seen in Austria. As was common in those days the name of the owners was written on the sides of the carriages with metal letters.
